"A VECES TIENES QUE CAER, PARA PODER VOLAR"
Understanding Rebirth
Rebirth is my artistic evolution. Every movement in this project tells the story of renewal and of shedding old skin. It is about the courage to begin again, not in spite of the past, but because of it.
To embrace rebirth is to first embrace your emotions. It requires stillness, honesty, and reflection. And through that, you uncover who you truly are. Not the version others expect, but the version that has always existed within you. This personal project is not just about me. It's for anyone who has ever felt stuck in transition. For those who long to be seen, heard, and felt. As well as those who dream of dancing but can't. May this be your movement too.
Because through dance, we don't just express
We transform.
And through transformation, we are reborn.
Reclaiming Myself Through Movement
For a long time, dance was about survival. Movement became the only way I knew how to express myself when words weren't enough. It was how I coped, how I communicated, and how I kept going. Every step I took on stage or in the studio carried the weight of internal battles I didn't know how to talk about.
Eventually, I hit a wall. I felt stuck... creatively, emotionally, and personally. My movements began to reflect more than just technique. They held onto pain, confusion, and a quiet struggle between who I was and who I wanted to be. I realized I was no longer dancing through expression; I was dancing through a war within myself.
There's a pivotal moment that happens when a woman starts to lose herself. It's subtle at first, but it grows. And when it reaches its peak, she either breaks under pressure, or she finds the strength to rebuild.
This personal project represents that turning point for me. It's about reclaiming my identity, redefining my purpose as an artist, and using dance as a tool not just for survival, but for healing and transformation.
This is more than a visual or performance. It's a personal rebirth. And it's dedicated to anyone who has ever used movement to find their way back to themselves.
The Sound and Vision
The song Angelito by Don Omar doesn't tell my story, but it still became a powerful part of Rebirth. The lyrics tell a tragic story about a girl who gets AIDS for revenge, sleeps with death, and dies in the end. It's dark, tragic, and filled with heavy themes like love, loss, pain, revenge, and the consequences of living fast. That's not my story. But the feeling it gave me? That hit home.
Something about the melody, the cadence, the way the music moved through me. There was something about it that felt like transformation. When I danced to it, it made me feel like I was breaking free. I wasn't thinking about the lyrics. I was thinking about how it made me move. That rhythm brought something out of me.
Visually, the original Angelito music video inspired the black and white concept and editing style of my own piece. My connection to Angelito had nothing to do with the lyrics and everything to do with the visual language and the feeling it stirred in me. It wasn't about telling Don Omar's story. It was about using the energy of that song to tell mine. The song helped me bring my vision to life in a way that felt raw, honest, and real.

Rebirth presented by #ItssNathaliee
Through every step of Rebirth, I've learned that art isn't just about what we create; it's about who we become through the process. This project is the result of a silent war no one saw me fighting. It came from pain. From moments where I didn't know how to keep going. From breaking down, questioning everything, and still showing up. Still moving. Rebirth isn't perfect. It's messy. It's emotional. It's honest. It's what happened when I stopped trying to look okay and started being real with myself. It's me piecing myself back together through dance, movement, and truth.
I've changed through this process. I have evolved as a dancer, as a creator, and as a woman.
This project is for the moments I didn't see a way forward and was ready to give up.
It's for the girl who stayed quiet.
who didn't feel seen.
Who almost stopped dancing?
And it's for you.
This is for every soul out there, dancing through their own storm, trying to find their way back to themselves.
This is your reminder:
your story doesn't end at your breaking point.
You're allowed to change.
You're allowed to start over.
You're allowed to take your time.
Through dance, you too can be reborn.
